CommunityAmerica Credit Union

The history of the CommunityAmerica Credit Union spans nearly seven decades.  In 1940, George Duvall, a pilot for Trans World Airlines (TWA), founded the credit union as an added benefit for the company’s employees.  Back then it was called TWA Club Credit Union.  The company began with a mere $1.069 in working capital.  Its first loans were $5.00 payday loans with a five-cent fee charged for interest.  By the end of its first year in business, the credit union was 644 members strong with in excess of $20,000 in assets.  The company changed its name to Members American Credit Union in 1992, and in 1998 they joined forces with CommunityAmerica Credit Union to become one of the top ten Kansas City-based financial institutions.

While CommunityAmerica Credit Union has its home office in Lenexa, Kansas, it has branches in the Kansas City metro area, Topeka and St. Louis.  However, members can also bank at a number of Shared Branches located throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Services offered by CommunityAmerica Credit Union include: online banking and bill pay, 24/7 account access by phone, brokerage services, credit card services and online trading.  They also offer a variety of loan programs, including home equity, 12 different types of auto loans, and five different mortgage loans to suit its members’ needs.

What CommunityAmerica Credit Union Offers the Community
